This project has taught me the value of second person design perspective. It can be tempting to design based on your own assumptions. During this project we had committed to co-design as method, and although we collected a lot of information, this information was not exactly what we were looking for to make our design decisions. Because of our commitment we instead tried to do something based of the information we did get, something that felt wrong at the time but in hindsight has produced a design that fits better into society. As outsiders we did not know that the type of information we were trying to collect was not relevant to the design context. Reflecting on this I have learned the importance of being humble about knowledge and being flexible when working with others. At the same time this can still be difficult, letting go of previous ideas that you thought were so well thought out because information from outsiders say something different.
