Design Project 1

This project taught me free exploration of the designspace. Whereas before this project, I preferred working toward a clear goal, during the project, we explored anything that piqued our interest, shifting goals along the way. This led to many interesting design ideas. However, reflecting on the final result, I see a combination of strong ideas without a clear narrative. In our focus on exploration, we overlooked integrating these explorations into a single narrative. Nevertheless, the project was a valuable lesson in exploration, particularly in how it can yield unexpected opportunities. I still aim for this exploration, although it is more constrained, limiting perhaps some future possibilities, but ensuring a product with a clear narrative.

The project has also taught me what good and bad teamwork look like, and, in particular, what my role is in this. At the beginning of the project, I set up a small workshop to discuss each other's strengths, weaknesses, and learning goals. Throughout the project, I sought to ensure that everyone could contribute in a way that suited them. I believe this contributed to an inspiring group dynamic. However, toward the end of the project, as I felt increasing pressure, I began listening less carefully and delegated tasks without sufficient discussion. This goes against my values and reflects how I cope with stress, which I want to change in future projects, not only to improve my collaboration skills but also to make the project more enjoyable for me.
